Housing fairs – only useful for those looking to purchase a home, right? Wrong! If you’re looking for insight into almost any home-related topic – or simply want to stay up-to-date with what’s going on in the industry – a housing fair is worth your time. They are great opportunities for both current and future homeowners to talk to industry experts, like lenders, Realtors®, insurance agencies, home inspection firms, non-profit and governments agencies, and more, about topics including:

  • The real estate market (trends, current valuations, new regulations, etc.)
  • Available mortgage and grant programs
  • New government programs and foreclosure prevention
  • Home inspections

For those local to the area, mark your calendars for the 20th annual Montgomery County Housing Fair on April 22nd. Event Organizer Judy Memberg has put together a diverse lineup of local experts for the benefit of those attending – and there is no sales pressure to worry about. With more than 25 exhibitors, you will be able to ask questions in a one-on-one setting, as well as attend workshops for more detailed information about specific topics.

Returning for his second year as a workshop presenter is our own loan officer Mike Thompson, who will be educating attendees on the many different loan programs available to homebuyers, debt-to-income ratios, and credit score expectations. This kind of guidance is invaluable in the mortgage process.

According to Mike, “In today’s lending world, no two buyers or loan scenarios are the same. A home purchase is the largest expenditure most people will ever make, so it shouldn’t be taken lightly. Sitting down with a mortgage professional is a great way to find the perfect balance between monthly mortgage payment and cash needed to close.”

Be sure to check out the “Understanding Mortgage Loans” workshop at 11:00 am, presented by Mike Thompson of Envoy Mortgage and Jerome Scarpello of Leo Mortgage. If you can’t make it to the housing fair on April 22nd, don’t worry. The Montgomery County Partners for Homeownership (MCPHO) holds free educational events throughout the year, covering topics such as credit scores, money management, and home-buying tips. “The goal is to educate the local community and build trust in the real estate industry. It is especially important in today’s housing environment that individuals know their options and feel comfortable with their decisions,” states MCPHO President Carolyn Prante.

As a proud sponsor of MCPHO, the Kelly Team at Envoy Mortgage hopes to see you at the upcoming housing fair and at future events. We encourage you to come with questions related to your personal situation – our team will be more than happy to go over them with you.
